Gruebele has been awarded a 2008 Raymond and Beverly Sackler International Prize in Biophysics. Gruebele was cited for his experimental studies of fast processes mediating the structural dynamics of complex biomolecular systems. The prize will be awarded on December 15, 2008, at Tel Aviv University.

Zhao was
elected a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering
(AIMBE), 2009. Huimin was cited for "his pioneering
contributions in the area of directed evolution for industrial and medical
biotechnology applications."

Hammack was elected a Fellow of the Physical Society for 2009. Bill was cited for "enhancing public awareness about physics, science, and technology via his radio commentaries and for his governmental service at the State Department."
Steve
Granick and fellow researchers are exploring the chemical mechanics of cell membranes through the placement of charged nanoparticles in phospholipid membranes.

New 'Center of the Physics of Living Cells', funded by the National Science
Foundation will be co-directed by faculty members
